Clay Guida - "The Carpenter" Builds his UFC Rep



The crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas was just settling in, beverages and souvenirs in hand, as October’s UFC 64 card got underway. Kurt Pellegrino got a quick submission win over Junior Assuncao in the opener, and there was still that buzz of activity in the stands as the second bout of the night, between lightweights Clay Guida and Justin James, was previewed.

Then suddenly, everything just crystallized into a single roar as Guida made his way into the Octagon and started running around the perimeter of the cage, long hair flying everywhere. It was the type of energy that shook you out of your pre-main event apathy and focused you squarely on the task at hand. Most didn’t know what to expect from the Tinley Park, Illinois resident, but they were dying to find out.
