Fisher-Franca fight is on

Much speculation has recently surrounded the status of Spencer Fisher, who is scheduled to fight in Thursday night's UFC Fight Night event against Hermes Franca.

Several MMA news outlets claimed that Fisher had suffered a knee injury in training and may not be able to participate, but NBCSports.com confirmed that the fight is on.

"He's fine and healthy and ready to go," UFC spokesperson Jennifer Wenk said from Hollywood, Florida, where the card is set to take place.

The Fisher-Franca fight has been widely anticipated as a possible show-stealer of the night. Fisher is 20-2 over his career and has won two in a row following a close split-decision loss to Sam Stout at UFC 58. Franca is 17-5 overall (4-2 in UFC) and has won six matches in a row, including a submission win over Jamie Varner at UFC 62.

In the main event of the night, unbeaten Rashad Evans will take on UFC newcomer Sean Salmon.
