Free offer jumpstarts IFL ticket sales in Houston



It looks like a free-ticket promotion is going to produce a strong crowd for the Houston debut of the International Fight League Friday night at Reliant Arena.

The IFL has been tight-lipped about ticket sales, but the folks at Reliant Park are much more accommodating. According to venue officials, more than 4,000 fans are expected for the event, which is the IFL's second '07 show.

Attendance north of 4,000 would be a respectable showing for the card, which lacks a Houston connection and is short on mainstream name-brand fighters. The likes of Lindland, Newton, Palaszewski and Rothwell mean something to us die-hards, but their curb appeal is limited with the masses.
