Pancrase primed for big plans with powerful Bodog deal



Perhaps the most intriguing story to emerge from Japan over the last week is that of the alliance formed between Pancrase and Calvin Ayre's bodogFIGHT project. The deal will pay immediate dividends for Pancrase, with Pancrase competitors bound for Costa Rica to partake in the upcoming season of bodogFIGHT, as well as Bodog lending fighters to compete on Pancrase's Feb. 28 card at Korakuen Hall.

"Although Pancrase is a long-established piece of the combat sports community, I think that a wide range of activities can be performed by worked with BodogFIGHT" said Pancrase president Masami Ozaki.

Ozaki has stressed that the deal is not one of exclusivity, and hopes not to jeopardize other cross-promotional relationships that Pancrase has in place.

"I told DSE about this alliance. Sakakibara is not in Japan right now, but I hope he'll understand it," said Osaki.
