UFC launches events in HDTV
UFC 67: ALL OR NOTHING First UFC Pay-Per-View Event Offered in HD
Las Vegas, NV – The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization today announced that it will take Ultimate Fighting® to a whole new level of action with the launch of UFC pay-per-view events broadcast in High-Definition Television (HD). UFC 67: ALL OR NOTHING, which takes place this Saturday, Feb. 3 live from Mandalay Bay, will be the first UFC event available to fight fans in HD.
“We are very excited to bring UFC fans a new, more intense UFC experience by presenting all of our UFC pay-per-view events in HD,” said Dana White, UFC President. “We are committed to giving fans new ways to enjoy the UFC, and offering our events in HD is going to make viewers at home feel like they’re sitting Octagon™-side at every fight.”
The UFC will now offer all pay-per-view events in 1080i HD for the highest quality picture and sound available on television. Consumer research shows that sports fans are clamoring for the nation’s hottest new brand in sports – the UFC – in High Definition. According to Consumer Electronics Association (CES), 37 percent of HD sports fans frequently invite friends and family over to watch sporting events in HD, and 32 percent of sports fans stated HD availability influences what sports they watch on TV.
Beginning with UFC 67: ALL OR NOTHING, all UFC pay-per-view events will now be broadcast live in HD, where available, on iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, DISH Network and Bell ExpressVu. UFC 67: ALL OR NTHING, starts at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST and will be offered in HD for a suggested retail of $49.95.
