UFC's Sanchez knows adversity

Eddie Sanchez knows just about everyone thinks he's being tossed to the wolves in facing Mirko (Cro Cop) Filipovic in the Croatian mixed martial arts star's debut in the UFC on Feb. 3 at UFC 67: All or Nothing.

The 32-year-old Filipovic (21-4-2) is a high-kicking, hard-punching veteran heavyweight with experience nailing elite fighters and dangerous criminals (as a member of the elite police anti-terrorism force, hence the nickname which is short for Croatian Cop).

Sanchez, 24, is 8-0 in his two years of MMA experience but it wasn't that long ago that he was paying the bills as a personal trainer. He took up fighting full time less than a year ago.

A lamb to the slaughter? Perhaps.
