Actors Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon take on Micky Ward's Life in New Flick



Two of the biggest stars in Hollywood team up in new Boxing Movie based on the life of "Irish" Micky Ward. Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon, will reunite in a fight drama movie by Paramount called, The Fighter. Reuters' reports that the two actors will star in the film about Micky Ward's rise from nothing to the world lightweight championship.

"Irish" Micky Ward story is also about his brother Dicky Eklund. Dicky and Micky remained close, even after a troubled past when Dicky fell victim to drugs and crime before returning to the ring to train Micky. Wahlberg will play Micky, while Damon will play the troubled Dicky.

Reuters reports that David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce The Fighter. The media publication also reports that Paul Attanasio, the executive producer of House, is working on a rewrite of the script turned in by Lewis Collick.

Shooting on The Fighter will begin shooting in Massachusetts early this summer. Reports indicate the movie will likely be out early next year or next summer. Variety reports that The Fighter will highlight not just boxing but themes of brotherhood and redemption.

Wahlberg said in a recent interview, quoted by Reuters, "I've been dying to do a boxing movie my whole career. I've been close to doing two, and they kinda fell apart, but it's something I'm very excited about."
