'Cage is the Rage'



Despite recent efforts by the state to put the kibosh on cage fighting, Extreme Toughman Caged Combat will continue as planned, Bay City businessman Arthur P. Dore said this week. The events have been promoted by Adoreable Promotions Inc., one of Dore's companies.

''Cage is the rage,'' said Dore, who is promoting two more upcoming cage fights: one in Flint this Friday and the Feb. 23 match in Saginaw.

''We've been brawling,'' Dore said of his standoff with the state of Michigan.

The state Department of Labor and Economic Growth issued a cease-and-desist order on the events last week, saying they couldn't continue as boxing contests for money because promoters didn't secure the proper licenses. The order was issued after state officials attended Toughman's first cage fight on Dec. 15 at The Dow.
