UFC 70 on Spike for FREE and not HBO?

With the HBO deal mired in details — and UFC 70 right around the corner — rumor has it that the pay-per-view (PPV)-worthy show will air on SpikeTV, according to WrestlingObserver.com.

That’s right, the April 21 event that features international mixed martial arts superstars such as Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, Michael Bisping, Andrei Arlovski, Fabricio Werdum, Ryoto Machida, Forrest Griffin and others will be just like any other UFC Fight Night.

Only it’ll be a whole lot bigger and a whole lot better.

Here’s a snip:

"Dana White said that regarding the broadcast of UFC 70 on 4/21 from Manchester, England into the U.S., that nothing is finalized right now, but it will most likely be on Spike and not HBO."

If this turns out to be true, it’ll be a boon for fans. With UFC 69 airing two weeks prior on April 7, coughing up more scratch to order another UFC event might not factor well into the budget.

It’s one of the reasons that made the potential debut on HBO so attractive — most fans have the premium cable channel. However, if that can’t happen, a FREE show on SpikeTV would be even better.

Thank you, Dana White. Thank you. Make it happen.
