World Combat League Names Matthew Ody & Associates to Handle Demand for International Distribution

DALLAS, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- World Combat League has named fight sports specialist Matthew Ody & Associates to oversee the League's expansion into international television distribution, it was announced today by Damien Di Ciolli, President of the World Combat League.

The World Combat League currently airs in prime time on the Versus Network in the United States.

"We want to move quickly into the international arena with World Combat League," Di Ciolli said in making the announcement. "Our new brand of mixed martial arts programming puts us in a unique position to take advantage of the growing international interest in Combat Martial Arts. Matthew Ody's company has extensive international distribution experience and an excellent reputation. They are the perfect partner to get us quickly into the international television marketplace."

"World Combat League will be a great success internationally for both sports and entertainment programmers. It will bring a new audience, especially male, to those channels seeking to broaden their appeal with 'action programming,'" commented Matthew Ody, founder of Matthew Ody & Associates, a full service international television distribution company specializing in fight sport programming. "I am extremely honored to be chosen as the international television distributor and look forward to working with Damien to bring this exciting new programming to everyone's attention."

World Combat League will be launched internationally at Sportel America, taking place March 12 - 14, 2007 at the Miami Beach Resort & Spa.

The World Combat League (WCL) is the creation of action-film and television star Chuck Norris. Norris has organized the world's most experienced martial artists to make the vision become reality. Chuck Norris, as the creative head, has joined together a number of innovators to present the next major American sporting league, and the next generation of martial arts combat entertainment.

World Combat League athletes are well-conditioned, exciting fighters with dynamic kicking skills. To encourage a "full throttle" style of fighting, each fighter will only fight a total of two, three minute rounds -- one in the first half and one in the second half of the match. This is intended to encourage each fighter to answer the bell with the spirit, desire and determination to earn their team as many points as possible by fighting aggressively every second of each round. The judge's scoring system and the referee's penalty point system is designed to reward this "full throttle" style of fighting and penalize any attempt to stall or be passive.
