DEAN LISTER SUFFERS TORN BICEPS

By Ken Pishna

Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Dean Lister suffered a torn biceps muscle on his right arm in training last week. The injury was a complete tear and Lister went into surgery the following day and to have it repaired.

Lister’s manager, Jerry Villasenor, says that Lister’s arm will be in a sling for the next few weeks followed by extensive rehabilitation program. He is expected to make a full recovery within three to three-and-a-half months.

Besides preparing for the opening of his new 20,000 square foot gym in San Diego, Calif., Lister was scheduled to defend his Abu Dhabi Combat Club championship against Roger Gracie at this year’s competition. Due to the injury, he will be unable to compete against Gracie.

Following a disappointing loss to Nathan Marquardt, who will be facing Anderson Silva for the UFC Middleweight Championship, Lister was also preparing to make his return to the Octagon. Although it will now have to be pushed back a bit, Lister says that he plans on being fully ready to return to the UFC in July or August.
