WORLD EXTREME CAGEFIGHTING® ANNOUNCES FINAL BOUTS FOR MARCH 24 CARD

THREE TITLE FIGHTS ON THE LINE

LAS VEGAS – World Extreme Cagefighting® (WEC™) is proud to confirm its hard-hitting Las Vegas card for Saturday, March 24, held at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

It’s a triple-threat of championship mixed martial arts action, as three world championships are on the line. Carlos Condit and John Alessio square off for the vacant WEC Welterweight title, Urijah Faber defends his Featherweight crown against undefeated Dominick Cruz and, finally, WEC Bantamweight boss Eddie Wineland throws down with hard-nosed challenger Chase Beebe.

The triple-title event is rounded out with an exciting undercard, showcasing several name fighters along with up-and-coming athletes that fans won’t want to miss. The undercard will be: Joe Riggs vs. Hiromitsi Miura, Erick Apple vs. Brock Larson, Dave Terrel vs. Tiki Ghosn, Cub Swanson vs. Tommy Lee, Antonio Banuelos vs. Charlie Valencia, Alex Serdyukov vs. Scott Norton, Jesse Moreng vs. Micah Miller and Steve Cantwell vs. Brian Stann.

Joe “Diesel” Riggs, (25-9), fighting out of Phoenix, is a veteran MMA fighter. Riggs is a former heavyweight who has moved down in weight to make a name for himself in the 185-lb division. His impressive right hook has demolished many of his past opponents, and Riggs has proven explosive on the feet as well as on the mat, where he utilizes numbing ground and pound along with explosive power to blast foes senseless. On March 24, he looks to use all his imposing weapons, when he takes on sensational Judo expert Hiromitsi Miura.

Mirua (7-3), is from Tokyo, and is one of the top Judo practitioners in MMA. Like many of his Japanese brethren, Mirua utilizes top-notch judo skills and a never-say-die attitude to outskill and outwill opponents, and he has excellent submissions he’ll be looking to utilize against the dangerous Riggs. March 24 is Mirua’s WEC debut, and he’ll be taking on one of the world’s toughest middleweights in an attempt to position himself for a title shot.

Los Angles resident Erik Apple (9-0), is a dangerous striker with an ever improving ground game. Known as “The O.C. Bad Apple,” this resident of Orange County, California is an unbeaten slugger making a name for himself on the West Coast. His impressive stand up has garnered him a strong fan following and Apple is looking to continue his impressive winning streak when he faces tough wrestler Brock Larson.

Larson (20-1), in no stranger to tough competition. He’s proven time and again he is one of the top welterweights in the world. A skilled wrestler with excellent submissions, Larson brings an intimidating “never-say-die” attitude to the cage and on March 24 he collides with undefeated Apple.

Las Vegas native Dave Terrel (4-1), is a well-rounded fighter who possesses the stand up and submission skills to succeed in the WEC. Terrel has dedicated his life to training and fighting in MMA competition, and is looking to impress the hometown Las Vegas crowd against MMA veteran Tiki Ghosn.

Ghosn, (8-5), fighting out of Huntington Beach Calif., is a world class stand up stylist who specializes in knee strikes. Ghosn is also known for his vicious ground and pound. He is a veteran fighter looking to make a big impact when he battles Terrel.

Cub Swanson (9-1), fighting out of Orange County, Calif., is a submission specialist with strengths in grappling, wrestling and boxing. He is an impressive 145-lb. fighter who is looking to make a name for himself in the big league.

Swanson squares off against Chicago’s Tommy Lee (19-5), who is known for his power and aggression. Lee’s aggressive style has earned him a reputation as an A class fighter, and both men will be looking for a breakout victory in this featherweight showdown.

Antonio Banuelos (13-3), fighting out of San Luis Obispo, Calif., is an explosive fighter with KO power. Banuelos prepares with legendary trainer John Hackelman, and at the Jan. 20 WEC he dominated Mike French to win a unanimous decision. Banuelos looks to continue on his winning ways when he faces submission specialist Charlie Valencia.

Charlie Valencia (7-2), is an expert submission artist. His explosive style has generated a buzz with each outing, and he knows a win against Banuelos will move him closer to a coveted WEC title shot.

Alex Serdyukov (7-3), hails from Siberia, Russia, and is an expert Muay Thai practitioner with excellent grappling skills. Coming off a recent loss to John Alessio, Serdyukov is looking to get back to his winning ways when he takes on Philipino sensation Scott Norton – an 8-0 fighter with a ferocious ground and pound attack.

In a battle of 8-0 featherweights, Jesse Moreng, fighting out of Tempe, Arizona, squares off against Micha Miller. Moreng is an intense, well-rounded stylist, while Miller, 7-0, is making a name for himself with lightning-fast strikes.

Undefeated 205-pounder Steve Cantwell (4-0) has earned a reputation with his brash personality. This Las Vegas native is looking to make a big impression when he takes on tough Marine Brian Stann, a native of Pennsylvania with a 2-0 record. Stann won both of his bouts by knockout and has a reputation as a banger.
