Assuerio Silva Scratched From Rumored UFC 67 Card



Although he's been a longtime rumored part up the upcoming UFC 68 event, UFC-winless heavyweight (12-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) Assuerio Silva will not fight at the March 3 Columbus event.

Silva, who lost to Tim Sylvia at UFC Fight Night 3 (unanimous decision) and to Brandon Vera at UFC 60 (via guillotine choke), had been expected to be on the night's undercard, though a possible opponent was never mentioned. However, according to a UFCjunkie.com source close to the event, Silva has been bumped from the card. It was not immediately known whether or not an injury played a part in the decision.

Silva's dismissal could explain today's news that lightweight submission specialist Jamie Varner (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) had been added to the rumored UFC 68 card. That would have given the rumored card 10 fights instead of the usual nine. But with Silva out of the picture, the card now looks set (aside from Varner's potential opponent, which is still an unknown).
