Buzz: Morales, Mayorga, NYSAC!

By: Karl Freitag

- Three-division world champion Erik Morales may soon be going for a world title in a fourth weight division. There is talk of "El Terrible" challenging WBC interim lightweight champion David Diaz in May.

- Former world champion Ricardo Mayorga has been arrested in Nicaragua for allegedly writing bad checks to obtain four automobiles valued at more than $54,000 from a used car dealer in 2005.

- Junior middleweight Raul Frank's win over Terrence Cauthen for the USBA title last week has been changed to a no decision by the New York State Athletic Commission. After a review of the videotape, it was ruled that Frank had been mistakenly declared the winner after the referee missed an unintentional headbutt that left Cauthen unable to continue.

**UPDATE**

MANAGUA, Nicaragua - Former world champion boxer Ricardo ``El Matador`` Mayorga has been arrested on fraud charges in his native Nicaragua.

Mayorga was arrested Tuesday at the Managua airport as he boarded a plane headed for the U.S., National Police spokeswoman Miriam Torres said Wednesday.

He was being held Wednesday in Leon, 50 miles northwest of Managua after Ramiro Sandino, a used car dealer in the city, accused the boxer of failing to pay him $56,000 for four cars.

Sandino said he turned over the cars to Mayorga in December 2005, and the boxer promised to pay for them after his fight with Oscar de la Hoya on May 6. But Sandino said Mayorga, who was knocked out in the fight, never paid him.
