Red Wing Throws Knockout Blow To Ultimate Fighting

(AP) Red Wing, Minn. Punches will have to be delivered elsewhere.

Red Wing's City Council voted unanimously Monday to ban "ultimate fighting" within the city. Ultimate fighting features fighters inside caged rings using a variety of martial arts.

Councilor Mike Schultz said Minnesota does not have rules to specifically regulate ultimate fighting to which the city could refer, so in his opinion, a complete ban is the best policy.

Police Chief Tim Sletten proposed the measure following matches held at the National Guard Armory and a local bar.
