UFC 70 to Air Free on HBO

The UFC’s latest supporting cable channel, HBO, have reportedly decided to air live UFC events free of charge in 2007.

The series of free shows are expected to begin when the UFC return to England on April 20th, for UFC 70. HBO have agreed to air three UFC events at a midnight slot, then depending on how it goes consider another three event extension.

The UFC has long relied on Pay Per View buys as a major source of income but believe that increasing the frequency of it’s shows, from approximately once a month to one every few weeks, will make up for the loss of revenue.
