ANOTHER FIRST FOR ‘‘DESTINY”



SOUTHAVEN, Miss. • The Saturday, Feb. 10, ProElite fight card will make history in more ways than one. Not only will legends Frank Shamrock and Renzo Gracie usher in the next generation of mixed martial arts with EliteXC when their match-up highlights an explosive event airing live for the first time on premium television (SHOWTIME), but you can bet on a women’s fight.

Rob Akers, Assistant Manager Race and Sports Book at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, reports Gina Carano has been made a 7-5 (-140) favorite to defeat Julie Kedzie (plus 110) in one of the five televised bouts on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).

“EliteXC made incredible breakthroughs in the MMA space already and we have yet to present a fight,” said Gary Shaw, President Live Events Division of ProElite. “Our goal is to continue to break new ground. The real winners are the fighters and the fans, who are starting to experience our vision.’’
