DANA WHITE TALKS PRIDE & MORE

It has been a while, but Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White made his return to MMAWeekly Radio last night. He joined hosts Damon Martin & Jeff Cain to talk about not only everything UFC, but also about the sport of mixed martial arts as a whole.

Of course, one of the hottest topics in the MMA rumor mill lately has been the possible sale of Pride Fighting Championships. The hottest rumor has been that Zuffa has already locked up the purchase, while Pride USA President Ed Fishman has recently come out and said that he is ready to make every effort to purchase controlling interest in Pride and expand its presence worldwide.

White addressed the rumors, and although he would not say that UFC parent company Zuffa has purchased Pride, he did say, “If Pride is for sale, I’m interested in buying them… Pride and the UFC are the two real organizations.”

He also discussed what he might have in store for the venerable Japanese promotion if Zuffa were to take over. “If I was to buy Pride, I would probably try to run Pride as a separate promotion in Asia,” said White.
