Mom is worried!

Typically soft-spoken and polite, Robin Braidwood pulls no punches when talking about her son's mixed-martial arts debut this weekend.

"I think it's a pretty brutal sport," said Adam Braidwood's mother.

"Of course, I am afraid of him getting hurt."

Adam is set to battle Ryan Jimmo - one of Canada's elite karate athletes - in Maximum Fighting Championship 11 tomorrow night at the Shaw Conference Centre.

And with MFC president Mark Pavelich boldly stating he has ordered not one but two ambulances for Saturday's card, Robin is bound to feel even more worried.

'GOING TO BE TROUBLE'

"There is going to be trouble (in that fight)," said Pavelich.

"This karate guy (Jimmo) kicks like a mule. If he hits Braidwood to the head, he's going to get knocked out."

But Adam doesn't believe he's going to come anywhere close to an ambulance.

"I'll be taking a cab home," he cracked.
