NSAC Releases Gate and Paid Tickets for PRIDE 33
By Josh Gross
PRIDE Fighting Championships' second U.S. venture saw 8,334 tickets sold for a gate just north of $2 million, the Nevada State Athletic Commission informed Sherdog.com on Wednesday.
The number of paid tickets bests PRIDE's October 2006 effort in Las Vegas by 255, though dollars at the gate dropped by $23,346. While Saturday's attendance was announced at 13,180, the NSAC lists 4,577 of those as being comp tickets.
Gross ticket sales of $2,033,098 places PRIDE 33, which saw Dan Henderson knock out Wanderlei Silva in the main event, ninth on Nevada's top MMA gate list, one spot behind PRIDE "Real Deal."
The Zuffa-promoted Ultimate Fighting Championship owns the top eight spots, with Dec. 30's Chuck Liddell-Tito Ortiz II card taking in $5.4 million at the gate
