Small fighters sizzle

Fight fans love the heavyweights, but at the International Fight League's Houston debut Friday night at Reliant Arena, the two smallest fighters on the card delivered the fight of the night.

Lightweights Bart Palaszewski and Chris Horodecki traded shots throughout in a back-and-forth mixed martial arts affair that appeared to be on the table in the fight's closing minutes.

Horodecki, 19, got the best of the more experienced Palaszewski, taking a split-decision win before an announced crowd of 4,531 in the IFL's first show in Texas.

In the card's super fight, Matt Lindland overwhelmed Carlos Newton.

Lindland outwrestled the former UFC champion in the first round and came out landing bombs in the second before finishing off Newton with a guillotine choke later in the round.
