Fujita/Monson Announced for PRIDE.34 "KAMIKAZE"

In anticipation of the first Japanese PRIDE FC show of the year, three more names were announced today as scheduled to appear at PRIDE.34 "KAMIKAZE."

Kazuyuki Fujita VS Jeff Monson

In his first fight of the year, the Japanese ace heavyweight Kazuyuki "Iron Head" Fujita will go head-to-head against world-class power grappler Jeff "The Snowman" Monson. In addition, wasting no time in his return to the ring is Mr. Pride himself, Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva, who begins his road of revenge and his quest to reclaim his title as the "Absolute Champion."

With remarkable wins over the likes of Ken Shamrock, James Thompson, and Bob Sapp, "Iron Head" Fujita continues to challenge himself with the likes of Jeff Monson. Considered by many to be one of the strongest competitors in the submission world, Monson is a two-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion in the 99 kg weight class. He recently dominated both the super heavyweight and open weight divisions in the 2005 Pan-American Grappling Tournament, and he makes his PRIDE debut on the heels of an impressive run in the UFC. Fujita vs. Monson represents the classic striker vs. grappler clash of styles, and given the power of these two individuals, not only will it be a test of wills, but a test of strength for "Iron Head" and "The Snowman."

Keep checking back for more announcements regarding new matches for PRIDE.34 "KAMIKAZE," which will take place on April 8th, from the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, airing live on PPV. Check your local cable / satellite provider for details.
