MIKE PYLE GETS OFF THE SCHNIDE AT ELITE XC

By: Mick Hammond

MMAWeekly: First off Mike, tell us what you’re up to and how you feel about your performance at EliteXC on Saturday.
Mike Pyle: On this fine morning I’m back in Tennessee, already shot me a couple squirrels and chopped me some wood for the day. [Laughs] I’m ready to start the week out fresh. The weekend went perfect, absolutely perfect. Everything went step-by-step from weigh-ins to raising my hands on a win…just perfect.

MMAWeekly: Do you feel you were able to execute the game plan you wanted, even with such a short fight?
Mike Pyle: I didn’t have a game plan; I was just ready to fight is all. As far as cutting weight and everything, I had a game plan and you can always stick to that, but in a fight you don’t usually have a game plan – I don’t, I just fight – and I go with the flow and whatever happens.

MMAWeekly: It’s got to feel good to start off the New Year with a new promotion in such an impressive way after your difficulties in the IFL last year.
Mike Pyle: Oh I feel great. I’m back in the 170’s and I’m loving it. That’s my weight, that’s where I should compete at, and I’m just excited, pumped up and ready for the next one.

PYLE PICKS ELITE XC TO PICK UP CAREER

By Loretta Hunt

2006 was supposed to be Mike Pyle’s year.

Pyle’s slick submission stylings on an overwhelmed Carter and a hard-nosed TKO over Machado, coupled with his training alliance with Randy Couture, poised Pyle (11-3-1) as one of the fledging International Fight League’s greatest acquisitions.

But on April 29, Pat Miletich-trained Silverback Rory Markham seemingly came out of nowhere, clipping the surprised Tennessee native with a harsh dose of reality 44 seconds into their first round match-up. The cameras immediately focused on Markham, and another star was born.

Mike Pyle talks leaving IFL, joining Elite XC

Submitted By: Keith Mills

On February 10th Elite XC hold their first show with five fights being shown live at 10 PM on premium cable channel Showtime plus five non-televised matches which will be streamed on Elite XC’s website. One of the streamed fights will be Mike Pyle vs. Ross Ebanez.

In the ADCC news archives are several updates with Mike Pyle from his days in Sportfight and as the WEC Champion through his time in the IFL.

KM: What is your status with the IFL?

MP: I’m still training with the Anacondas, I’m just not a member of the Anacondas team. I wasn’t liking my weight class is all. I’m not signed with the IFL any longer, I didn’t sign on to the new season, and I don’t work for them anymore. I signed a three-fight deal with Showtime.
