“THE CROW” TO TEXAS FOR “ART OF WAR”

By Mike Doyle and Mike Russell

Canadian middleweight David Loiseau is back in Quebec training with old friends Georges St. Pierre, Jonathan Goulet and Patrick Cote. Loiseau is in town helping St. Pierre prepare for his first UFC Welterweight title defense April 7 against Matt Serra at UFC 69 "Shootout" in Houston, Texas.

Afterwards, Loiseau (14-7) will be heading down to Albuquerque, New Mexico to join renowned trainer Greg Jackson and his team in hopes of reclaiming his place among MMA’s elite fighters.

Loiseau’s next fight will be on May 11 in the Arena Fighting Championship's “Art of War II”, a Texas-based promotion. “The Crow” will face hometown boy “Fast” Freddie Espiricueta (2-1) at the Austin Convention Center. The 27-year old is also under contract with Pro Elite’s "Elite XC" organization, but recently revealed it wasn’t an exclusive deal and doesn’t prevent him from fighting in other promotions.

SUN Announces "Art of War - II"

DALLAS, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 23, 2007 -- Following the successful world premiere of "Art of War" Arena Fighting Championship in Dallas March 9th, 2007, SUN Sports & Entertainment Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SSPE) announced today that "Art of War - II" will take place at the Austin Convention Center (Austin, Texas) on Friday, May 11th, 2007.

"Art of War" opened to over 6,700 fans at the American Airlines Center and witnessed a first class mixed-martial arts card that featured a dramatic battle between UFC veterans Pedro Rizzo and Justin Eilers for the IFA World Heavyweight Championship. Rizzo, of Brazil, took the title in a hard-fought slugfest between two of the World's top heavyweights.

For "Art of War - II," the main event will also feature a heavyweight showdown -- this time between former UFC and IFL star Wes "The Project" Sims and Chris "The Guillotine" Gillen. The Sims vs. Gillen fight will headline a ten-bout card that begins at 7:30 pm. They will be vying for a top ranking in the heavyweight division.

According to SUN CEO CJ Comu, it could be déjà vu all over again for the main event. "This is a great match up between two very good heavyweights," Comu stated. "Wes Sims is a gifted and talented fighter who can not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. With that said, he has a real battle on his hands against a very tough and hungry Gillen."

The 6'10", 275-lb. Sims has had an impressive streak of seven wins in a row. Gillen, of Amarillo, Texas, brings with him an impressive record of 15-5.

Austin's "Fast" Freddie Espiricueta is slated to fight Canadian David "The Crow" Loiseau in a featured undercard bout. The remainder of the bouts are to be announced.

The Austin Convention Center, in the heart of downtown, is also the home of the Austin Toros, of the NBA Development League. With a capacity of around 3,500, Comu feels the intimate seating environment will be a big plus for fans. "No question, there isn't a bad seat in the house," said Comu.

"We expect a rowdy, capacity crowd. Austin has a long tradition of having great sports fans and we look forward to our first event there."

"Art of War - II" will be broadcast by Mark Cuban's HDNet. HDNet also produced and aired the world premiere event for "Art of War" in Dallas.

In the March 9th "Art of War" main event, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend and former UFC star, Pedro Rizzo, won the IFA World Heavyweight title by beating former Iowa State football player and UFC veteran, Justin Eilers, in an exciting main event. Rizzo and Eilers, both known as two of the best "strikers" in the game, battled throughout with Rizzo finally being declared the winner by unanimous decision.

RETURN OF THE ROCK, PEDRO RIZZO

By Mick Hammond

Sometimes in life people need to take steps backwards before they can truly move forward in their lives. Such has been the case for Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo in recent history.

After being one of the most dominant strikers in the heavyweight division, Rizzo hit hard times, culminating in the past two years, which saw his activity level shrink, and worse, two embarrassing losses in the PRIDE organization.

But with those steps backward done, it appears as if Pedro is ready to begin taking the steps forward needed to recapture past glory, as he returned to MMA action for the first time in a year this past Saturday in Dallas, Texas, defeating fellow UFC alum Justin Eilers via Unanimous Decision at The Art of War 1.

“It was very good for me,” Rizzo said to MMAWeekly of returning to action for the first time since February 2006. “I was more than a year out of the ring, so for me it was very important to try to come back into the ring with a fight that was good, a fight that was hard.”

Pedro further commented, “I’m pretty happy with the victory, with the win and I hope I can get more fights this year and get back to the top.”

Perhaps in a sign of rejuvenation, Rizzo was very aggressive for most of the fight, and despite an injury that forced him to change tactics; he was rewarded for his assertiveness with the unanimous decision.

“I think it was a good fight,” commented Pedro. “In the first round I was just thinking about boxing and trying to knock him down. When we went to the ground, all fighters have a favorite side, and I went to my bad side, but it was [overall] good.”

“The second round went good, but at the end of the round I broke my hand. So in the third round I had to take him down and keep the fight on the ground because I couldn’t punch anymore [with my left hand],” continued Rizzo.

Pedro explained the moment the injury happened and how he compensated to ultimately get the win, “At the end of the second round I gave a high kick and then a left hook and that’s when I broke my hand. So I couldn’t punch [with that hand] anymore, so in the third round I just used elbows and the right punch.”

"That was a good fight," he said. "We exchanged a lot of punches. I ran over him all the time. Eilers had a good streak. He had seven victories in a row, and I beat him. I'm very happy with my victory."

Art of War -- Inaugural Event Creates Fan Hysteria

DALLAS, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 12, 2007 -- SUN Sports & Entertainment Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SSPE) announced today that the Company's world premiere of the "Art of War" Undisputed Arena Fighting Championship, scored a "Knock Out" with its fans and sponsors.

The 10-fight card had barely started, but SUN Chairman/CEO C.J. Comu was already calling the event a success because of the crowd it had attracted.

SUN Sports & Entertainment Inc., the company that put together the "Art of War" submission fighting, bouts at the American Airlines Center (AAC) on Friday night.

The announced crowd of 6,722 came as good news to Comu, who said he hopes to bring another show to the city at the end of the year, preferably at the AAC. The Art of War will put on a show at the Austin Convention Center on May 11 and at the San Antonio Alamodome on June 30.

"I love the energy Dallas has for this sport," Comu said. "We want to build a fan base. I love the crowd. People think this attracts the young crowd, but you've got corporate people, major sponsors, fight fans, and a lot of pretty girls."

The knockout of the night belonged to Garland's Anthony Njokuani. A 6-0, 170-pounder, Njokuani improved to 7-0 when he caught Denmark's Kenneth Rosfort on the chin with a right cross at 2:12 of the first round. Rosfort fell face-first onto the canvas, where he stayed for a couple of minutes before being helped from the cage.

"It felt so good," said Njokuani. "I wanted to give it to the crowd, a standing knockout. My main goal was to catch him with this [right hand]."

Dallas' Alex Andrade, 5-11, 200 pounds, improved to 5-3 with a TKO of Sweden's Klas Akesson in the second round.

The biggest cheers of the night were reserved for Justin Wren, a former Bishop Lynch wrestler. A 6-4, 270-pounder, Wren received a rousing ovation before his fight with San Diego's Justin Howard, and Wren gave the people what they wanted. The fight was stopped in the second round, when Howard tapped out by strikes after being taken down to the canvas.

Wren, 19, said he will wrestle at Iowa State next season. "I'm a grappler, but I worked on a lot of stand-up for this fight," Wren said. "After the second round, my coaches said to stop messing around and pound him. Ground and pound -- that's my specialty."

Dallas' Tom East, 5-9, 170 pounds, had prepared for his fight with San Antonio's Brian Russel by doing a lot of stand-up boxing.

But when Russel hit East with a clean shot early in the first round, East changed his game plan and decided to ground fight. A few shots to Russel's stomach and head led to a first-round tap out.

In the main event, Brazilian Pedro Rizzo won the IFA World Heavyweight title by beating former Iowa State football player Justin Eilers in a three-round decision. Rizzo knocked Eilers down midway through the first round, and the two fought on the ground until the bell. The last two rounds were filled with action, as each fighter bloodied the other.

Art Of War - KO Of The Night - Video

Anthony Njokuani welcomed Denmark's Kenneth Rosfort to Texas by giving him an Anderson Silva-esque howdy in the form of seven knees to the body while in the clinch. Only 30 seconds or so into the fight and Rosfort's midsection was pink as gum. Njokuani's Muay Thai game was on display as he fired off a high right kick followed by a left straight and then a right on the chin that had Rosfort land on his face. Literally. A fantastic KO, which came at 2:12 of the first, had the whole place rocking.

Review: Art Of War

By Keith Mills

American Airlines Centre, Dallas, TX-Sun Production Group’s first MMA event “Art of War” for the most part exceeded expectations of its ambitious goals, as the first international dominated card in Texas. In the main event, Brazil’s Pedro Rizzo won a three-round decision over fellow Ultimate Fighting Championship vet Justin Eilers, to take the vacant International Fighters Association Heavyweight belt in a war that showed Rizzo return to his aggressive style. Using powerful punches and accurate kicks, Rizzo punished Eilers for all three rounds proving Rizzo may indeed be ready for another shot at the top.

Going into this show perhaps the most anticipated fight was the return of Carlo Prater, one of the most scouted welterweights up until last year. Carlo recently returned from Brazil for another run at the spotlight himself however this performance wasn’t quite what is necessary for the main shows. Surprisingly Carlo won a unanimous decision despite receiving most of the damage in his fight against the much less experienced Anthony Lapsley.

If Rizzo/Eilers was a clear decision and Prater/Lapsley was a surprising one then Jason Maxwell/Yuki Inoue was almost too close to call. For three rounds Maxwell and Inoue went back-and-forth doing roughly equal damage and taking each other down as if they had been training partners for years. In the end the judges saw it mixed, with one seeing Inoue win all three, one seeing Inoue win two out of three, and one see Maxwell winning two out of three.

The rest of the main card continued the “Texas vs. the World” theme with mixed results. Shooters MMA’s Klas Akesson and Kenneth Rossfort were both caught with punches standing that lost them their fights against Alex Andrade and Anthony Njokuani respectively, while fellow teammate Sonny Neilson won his fight with the quickest TKO of the night against Armondo Valadez. A fourth Shooters MMA fighter representing the London location, Christian Smith, lost by submission.

Not all the fights were “Texas vs. the World” as Georgia’s Damien Stelly made quick work of West Virginia’s Mike Sheppard via what was announced as armbar but what was actually a keylock, Dallas’ own Justin Wren picked up a TKO over San Diego’s Justin Howard, and local standout Tom East made San Antonio’s Brian Russel submit to strikes.

One aspect that made this show stand out was the non-fight entertainment. At one break in the show about two dozen army volunteers surrounded the cage and took their inauguration vows, while some of the costumes of the ring girls and go-go dancers could best be described as “unique,” making up for possibly the worst National Anthem performance in the history of MMA (and believe me, I’ve seen some pretty bad ones). This show reportedly will air on HDNet although details are still coming. Give this show five stars for concept, four for matchmaking, and three for production.

Look for a full report in an upcoming issue of Full Contact Fighter.

Complete results:
Tom East def Brian Russell 1:51 R1 by submission to strikes
Sonny Neilson def Armondo Valadez 1:16 R2 by TKO
Justin Wren def Justin Howard 1:32 R2 by TKO
Anthony Njokuani def Keneth Rosfort 2:12 R1 by KO
Eric Schambari def Christian Smith 3:12 R1 by head/arm choke
Damien Stelly def Mike Sheppard 1:35 R1 by keylock
Yuki Inoue def Jason Maxwell by split decision (29-28, 30-27, 28-29)
Alex Andrade def Klas Akesson 3:15 R2 by TKO
Carlo Prater def Anthony Lapsley by unanimous decision (29-28 x 3)
Pedro Rizzo def Justin Eilers by unanimous decision (30-27 x 3)

Rizzo Looks Good After Return From Year Layoff

By Scott Holmes

DALLAS, — Guy Mezger and the Sun Production Group kick started the new "Art of War" organization Friday night in front of 6,722 fans at the American Airlines Center, home to the Dallas Mavericks who boast of a 20-game win streak in the building.

Apparently the Mavs left enough of their winning mojo in the house since all of the local boys did good. With the crowd rooting on the hometown fighters, they went 5-0.

Headlining the event was two former UFC heavyweight contenders, Justin Eilers and Pedro Rizzo. One thing that immediately stuck out is that Rizzo pressed the fight as opposed to waiting and countering like usual.

He stalked Eilers from the opening bell and of course landed his usual hard punches. Eilers is tough as nails and he took many of the Brazilian's hardest shots and posted tall. Rizzo tagged Eilers halfway through the first round and it caused him to fall down to his knees, though it was unclear if he was loopy or just got hit so hard he lost his feet. Regardless, Rizzo tried to jump on Eilers, but he recovered and kept his attacker in the guard.

Eilers rolled over and turtled up when Rizzo began trying to time some punches to the side of his head. The sound of Rizzo's shots were so loud that it startled writers around me. Eilers fought back by throwing some sharp elbows, but "The Rock" continued to punish the former Iowa State linebacker until Eilers picked his moment and exploded up, using the fence to get back on his feet. After the opening melee, Rizzo wore a cut across the bridge of his nose and Eilers appeared roughed up.

During round two these guys again just wailed on one another. Each time Rizzo landed a stiff jab, it wouldn't have surprised anyone if Eilers toppled over. The American slugger got in more than a few hard shots on Rizzo along the way.

Both men hit each other hard enough to snap back their heads. An ex pro boxer sitting next to me whistled at the brutality that comes with heavyweights wearing light gloves. Rizzo's onslaught eventually pays off and Eilers is hit flush. He turns his back to Rizzo but is saved by the bell.

Going into the third round Eilers looked like he's been in a car accident, but he's not going to give in. He gets off a combo that has his corner yelling for him to finish. The heavyweights clinch against the fence and Eilers starts to get some real work in. He knees Rizzo's thigh a few times and then lands about a dozen hard body shots to the Marco Ruas' disciple's left side. Eventually, Rizzo has enough and in a scramble he gets Eilers sitting with his back to the fence. Rizzo starts to throw wild elbows and opens up a cut Eilers' forehead and hairline.

The round ends as Eilers kicks him off. This was a pretty brutal fight with heavy blows and stiff jabs from both men. Judges at ringside scored it unanimously for Rizzo.

Preceding the main event Carlo Prater rolled in to take on Anthony Lapsley. Prater may have the experience but Lapsley wasn't too concerned as he proved to be just as technical. Both men battled hard with tons of position changes and several times it looked as though either could end the fight.

Prater was able to pull out a unanimous (yet close) decision (29-28 three times) in a fight that I can't do justice. There were foot stomps, mount reversals, a shoulder throw, knees to the body and worse. It seemed like "The Recipe" had the upper hand the first half of the fight with Prater taking over in the latter portion. Lapsley showed a lot of class in the defeat and an immediate rematch would be warranted. Both men laid it on the line.

Nothing adds more to excitement of fight night than pandemonium in the ring. I guess Alex Andrade of Dallas and Klas Akesson of Sweden decided that they wanted to be the topic of water cooler discussion as they put on a war of their own.

The Swede had the reach advantage while Andrade had the crowd. Round one was full of knee trading, underhook/overhook dancing, and guillotine attempts. The second period had both men once again in a multitude of different positions until Andrade dropped Akesson with a right on the chin that flattened him. The referee stepped in to stop the fight, but as attempted to pull off Andrade, Akesson tried to get up and keep going.

Andrade didn't seem to mind and he circled around the ref to hit Akesson with another one-two that hurt him again. This time the ref really tried to keep the Texan away and finally was able to corral him. The crowd rose to its feet, and I'm still trying to believe what I just saw. Akesson was knocked out twice and still wanted more. Alas, the ref decided that twice was enough and the Lion's Den fighter wins by TKO at 3:15 in the second.

Japan's Yuki Inoue captured my heart as he came out to the classic rock song "Godzilla" and finished his ring entrance with a sumo stomp. His fight with Jason Maxwell was fairly entertaining despite being very sloppy. Inoue spent the majority of the bout leg tripping Maxwell onto his back, but was unable to put the American away. Both men spent most of the match trying to win a position war and fighting for hand control. In the end Inoue won a split decision.

Damien Stelly met Mike Sheppard at 205 and while most of the fights were pretty exciting, this one was not. Stelly made short work of Sheppard by securing what looked like a Kimura, forcing a tap at 1:45 of round one.

Having seen most of Eric Schambari's fights, I was hoping to see him fight some stiff competition since he's easily defeated other opponents. His "test" did not come tonight. Taking the fight to Christian Smith early, Schambari wastes no time getting a takedown, working for an arm-triangle and finishing the fight at 3:12 in the first round.

The third fight of the night was an odd battle between two heavyweights: touted wrestler Justin Wren and Justin Howard. Wren decided to put his head down and just bull rush Howard with overhand combos. Howard, however, was able to effectively counter punch and land some damage on Wren's face.

Wren would check his nose occasionally, perhaps thinking it was broken, but that didn't deter him from rushing straight in again. Howard looked great at times but every time he would get on a roll, he would stop. Both the crowd and his corner were frustrated with Howard for not making an effort to finish.

In the second round Wren wisely decided to make this a wrestling match and went for a single-leg. Howard slipped out but fell down and Wren pounced with hammer punches and elbows until the referee stepped in at 1:32 of the middle round.

Things really got excited with the second fight as lightweight Sonny Neilson from Denmark met Armondo Valadez. Armondo was a man on a mission. He popped Neilson with a left hook and scored a few nifty takedowns. When it did hit the ground Valadez reached and pulled up on Neilson's head until the Dane took an arm and began to work for a submission. Valadez reversed and landed a forearm that drove Neilson's head into the mat. The Scandinavian fighter slipped out of a guillotine and took Valadez's back, spending the last minute of the first round by flattening his foe out. Despite three very convincing tries for a rear-naked choke, Valadez managed to escape and get to the next round.

In his corner between rounds, Valadez complained about his arm, but when the bell rang for round two he ignored the pain and came out banging. Connecting solidly with a spinning back fist that had Neilson wobbly, Valadez tried to seize the moment. But once the men ere against the fence it was Nielson who capitalized with a knee to the midsection that caused Valadez to exhale air so loud that I looked up from my laptop.

The blow was vicious enough to force Valadez to the floor, where he grabbed his ribs. The referee moved in to stop the fight at 1:16 of the second round. What looked and sounded like some broken ribs luckily turned out to be just a bruise. Neilson finished the fight decidedly but Valadez looked crisp and got off some great punches despite having a sizable reach disadvantage.

The night got started off with a bang as local Tom East took on Brian Russel at 175 pounds.

Russel got the evening started with a bang by dropping East with a punch. It didn't seem to matter. Soon enough East recovered enough to put Russel in a bad position up against the fence. He wasted no time and began to punish Russel with knees and elbows to the body. With his arm pinned down by East's knee, Russel started eating punches until the referee stepped in to stop the fight at 1:51 in the first round.

Art Of War - Results

Following a near 13-month layoff, Brazlian heavyweight Pedro Rizzo (15-7) returned to active duty tonight at the Undisputed Arena Fighting Championships "Art of War" in Dallas, Texas, besting Team Extreme heavyweight Justin Eilers (16-6-1) in three rounds via decision.

14-time UFC veteran Rizzo is rebounding from a devastating KO knockout at the hands of Russian Red Devil Roman Zentsov at Feb. 2006's PRIDE 31.

Former football player Eilers had entered tonight's event at the American Airlines Arena on a seven-fight winning streak.

I found these results posted by a quality member on the Underground forum. So...they are VERY unofficial. I will update this post once the results are officialy released.

Just got back from the show... here are the results to the best of my recollection:

Rizzo def. Eilers by unanimous decision

Prater def. Lapsley by unanimous decision

Andrade def. Akesson by TKO in Rd. 2

Inoue def. Maxwell by unanimous decision

Stelly def. Sheppard by TKO in Rd. 1

Schambari def. Christian Smith by submission in Rd. 1

Njokuani def. Rosfort by TKO in Rd. 1

Wren def. Howard by TKO in Rd. 2 or 3 (I can't remember)

Neilson def. Valadez by TKO in Rd. 3

East def. Russel by I can't remember

It was a pretty good fight - Eilers was bleeding like a faucet by the third round (from the nose) and was knocked down in the first, when it looked like he was gonna get TKO'd. To his credit he kept on fighting until the final bell.

Also, Rizzo broke his left hand late in the first or early in the second, which affected his game.

ART OF WAR PREVIEW

By Keith Mills

Dallas, TX -- Sun Production Group’s Art of War, the company’s first MMA show, takes place this Friday, March 9th at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas . UFC and Pride vet Guy Mezger serves as matchmaker, Bruce Buffer is the announcer, and the show is reportedly to be shown on HDNet television. As of this writing the card is:

Pedro Rizzo vs. Justin Eliers
Carlo Prater vs. Anthony Lapsley
Alex Andrade vs. Klas Akesson
Jason Maxwell vs. Yuki Inoue
Damien Stelly vs. Mike Sheppard
Eric Schambari vs. Christian Smith
Anthony Njokuani vs. Kenneth Rosfort
Justin Wren vs. Justin Howard
Sonny Neilson vs. Armondo Valadez
Brian Russell vs. Tom East

The main event features two UFC vets on the comeback trail as Pedro Rizzo fights Justin Eilers for the newly-formed IFA Heavyweight title. Rizzo’s counter-punching style has made for some lackluster fights in the past but he is said to be taking offense much more seriously, and Eilers’ swinging for the fences style is unlikely to draw Rizzo into a war of attrition. The fight is an ideal match-up for both fighters and likely to live up to the “war” part of the event title.

Eilers (left) kicking Gary Marshall

The other fight getting a big push is the return of Carlo Prater. Prater has solid standup from his time under Thugjitsu’s Yves Edwards and went toe to toe with Crafton Wallace in the World Combat League, a kickboxing event. Prater is mainly known for his ground game which comes from his training in Brazil. He has wins over Carlos Condit, Thomas Schulte, and Pat Healy but losses to Derrick Noble and Keith Wisniewski. A measure of what insiders think of him is he was supposed to be Eddie Alvarez’s first title defense for Alvarez’s MFC belt, while both Noble and Wisniewski got their UFC debuts immediately after beating Carlo. After the loss to Noble one year ago Carlo returned to and fell out of sight in Brazil. Now he makes his return against Anthony Lapsley, a KOTC vet undefeated as a pro.

Prater (Right) kicking Derrick Noble

Another fighter making his return to MMA is Alex Andrade, a long-time Lion’s Den fighter who hung it up back in 2002 to concentrate on his family. Now this UFC and Pride vet returns to action, facing Klas Akesson. Both Prater and Andrade have opponents one might think would be “tune-up fight” opponents but upon closer examination both these returning standouts could be viewed as having the odds against them.

Rosfort pounding on Christian Dellevag

Surprisingly not much emphasis is currently being given to Jason Maxwell’s fight against Yuki Inoue. Maxwell defeated former UFC Champion Jens Pulver in HOOKnSHOOT but had a rough ’04 and ’05 seasons fighting in ZST. Now coming off four straight wins this fight against Shooto vet Inoue is going to be a turning point for both fighters.

Maxwell finishing Jens Pulver

One would think this show would hold a lot of “ Dallas vs. regional fighters” to control payroll and bring in the fans but surprisingly the card is turning out to be much closer to “ Texas vs. the World”. According to Mezger this is the first international card in TX history as he reveals “we have guys from England, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Japan, and Brazil.” Shooto vet Inoue from Japan, Cage Warriors vet Smith from England, three European Vale Tudo vets … this card is actually turning out to be the first stop on this year’s European scouting trip continuing through the end of April.

Overall this is a solid looking card with international appeal and HDNet distribution, a lofty goal for a first-time promoter despite Mezger’s role. Look for a full report from Full Contact Fighter in the near future.

Dallas-Based Fight Company Enters the Cage

DALLAS, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 07, 2007 -- SUN Sports & Entertainment Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SSPE) www.sunorganization.com is a professional sports and entertainment marketing company that produces award-winning broadcast sporting events in boxing and Mixed Martial Arts (AKA "Cage FIGHTING"). SUN has officially entered the MMA Arena as a new player in (according to Newsweek Magazine) "the fastest growing sport in America."

SUN Chairman & CEO CJ Comu, stated, "I am delighted with the completion of this transaction and the future opportunities that are provided to us as a public company." Comu added, "The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) industry is the fastest growing Sports Entertainment business in the world. We hope to be a large player in this small but rapidly growing space and deliver high quality entertainment to the networks and fans around the world."

Rounding out the management team is SUN President J. Buckeye Epstein who has over 25 years of a diverse background in sports, marketing and financial management including the past president of Major League Baseball Youth Marketing Program MLB "Pitch, Hit and Run." SUN CFO, Phil Miller, CPA, who initiated and executed two Initial Public Offerings (Micrografx and El Chico) and most recently acted as interim CFO for Immediatek Inc., which was acquired by Radical Holdings LP (owned by and HDnet and Dallas Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban). Lester Bedford, Boxing Consultant, who has produced more than 400 Professional Boxing events nationwide. Mr. Bedford has produced and managed Fights for Lou Duva, Don King, Bob Arum, Oscar De LaHoya and other networks.

Wholly owned, SUN Production Group, in association with International Fighters Association announced their premiere event for 2007 -- "ART OF WAR, Undisputed Arena Fighting Championship." The 10-bout fight card is set for March 9, 2007, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, and will be televised in high definition by Mark Cuban's Company, HDNet. Aligning itself with the IFA and owning its event content, SUN's management team has been collectively involved in the production of over 100 professional boxing events nationwide, on networks such as NBC, CBS, ABC, USA, HBO, LATINO, SHOWTIME, FOX, & ESPN.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend, Pedro "the Rock" Rizzo will take on American, Justin "The Hammer" Eilers, in the Main Event. Both Rizzo and Eilers are both veterans of the highly successful UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).

"It's going to be perhaps the biggest and most exciting MMA event in Texas history," said Comu. "We're anticipating a very large and enthusiastic crowd on March 9th!"

"MMA is becoming the fastest growing combat sport internationally" -- (Michael Russell, ezine.com) and has been eclipsing the NBA, NHL and MLB in cable ratings among the coveted 18-34-year-old market (NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE). The nationwide MMA market is estimated to be $1 billion with one primary player in the space, which is privately held and controlled by UFC.

World famous "Voice of MMA" announcer, Bruce Buffer, will serve as the Event's Master of Ceremonies and Ring Announcer. Because of the event being at Dallas' American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks (NBA) and Dallas Stars (NHL), a number of local dignitaries and sports celebrities are expected to be in attendance, as well. Former UFC Champion, Guy Mezger, serves as an advisor and chief matchmaker for all SUN MMA events. Heading up event management and marketing will be Lester Bedford of The Bedford Agency. Bedford has marketed over 100 World Championship Boxing events over the past 20 years, including events televised on HBO, Showtime, NBC, ABC, CBS, ESPN, USA and other networks.

The emergence of Mixed Martial Arts fighting has become a worldwide story, including a featured segment on CBS' "60 Minutes" news magazine program and feature pieces throughout the newspaper and magazine industry. As stated by "60 Minutes," "MMA is the fastest growing sport in the country, appealing to the coveted demographic that advertisers have been losing steadily -- males ages 18 to 34."

"Don't look now, but mixed martial arts has gone mainstream," says Julie Scelfo of Newsweek. Grapplearts Writer Donald Walter states, "Mixed martial arts is the fastest growing sport in the United States as mixed martial arts events and training centers spring up all over the country. And the money the sport is making continues to grow at a nearly exponential rate!"

In its December 6, 2006 profile on Ultimate Fighting, USA Today writer Marco della Cava states, "Football and baseball may be American pastimes, but for a high-tech generation weaned on immediacy, such sporadic action doesn't compare with UFC's short and definitive flurries of violence."

Pedro Rizzo travels on Monday to USA

The striker Pedro Rizzo travels on Monday to the USA wih his Wrestling trainer Beto Leitão to fight at the event Art of War, that will be held on March 9th at the American Airlines Center , in Dallas. Pedro Rizzo, who will meet his master Marco Ruas there, will fight for the heavyweight belt of the event against Justin Eillers. “I am pretty confident in my victory now. That will be good for me to be back fighting in a smaller event, showing a victory”, said Rizzo, who already studied Eillers’s game.

I already watched almost everything, all of his bouts at UFC... He KO’d Mike Kyle, he was KO’d by Paul Buentello, he did a good bout with Arlovski until he gets hurt… So I know he is an aggressive guy, he is good on Wrestling, he is prett complete athletes… This is the chance I have got to be back at the market, to be back after one year with no fighting. And I hope that this year will be a good year of fights – finished Rizzo.
